3 tips to help you find the right dog for you and your family
Have you always wanted a dog, but not sure where to start?
There are so many, and how will you know if you have the one that is right for you?
After all, choose the wrong dog and it could end up in heartbreak if you have to take it back or worse, surrender it to an animal shelter.
To help you make the right decision we have put together this handy checklist.
There are over 400 different breeds of dogs. They have all been created to serve a particular purpose from hunting, herding to companions. Make sure you get the breed that fits into your lifestyle.
You probably don’t need us to tell you that dogs come in a wide range of sizes. Don’t be fooled though. Large breeds need less exercise than some small and medium sized dogs.
Some smaller breeds need as much exercise as working dogs like Kelpies and Border collies.
- Dog coats and fur
If you like your house to be spotless get a dog that doesn’t shed as much. Poodles are great breeds. Their fur is considered wool and they don’t shed. As well, shorter coated dogs can shed more than long haired ones, so ask around and make sure you know what you are getting yourself in for.
